UOSE organises SEON 2008

SEON 2008 – 6th Symposium on Enabling Optical Networks is a scientific meeting that aims at gathering postgraduate students and researchers in the area of Optoelectronics in order to promote connections and technology transfer between R&D institutions and Portuguese companies.

This event is organised in rotation by INESC Porto and by the Institute of Telecommunications from Aveiro (IT-Aveiro), with the support of both the University of Porto and the University of Aveiro.

This year’s edition was chaired by Ariel Guerreiro, researcher from the Optoelectronics and Electronic Systems Unit, and it focused themes related to high debit optical communications and optical applications for communication, in the areas of optical sensors, encryption and safe communications.

The event welcomed a group of 65 participants set up by students, researchers and professors. We would like to highlight the participation of the following national and international speakers: Tsuyoshi Konishi (University of Osaka, Japan), Tetsuya Kawanishi (NICT, Japan), Naoya Wada (NITC, Japan), Nobuyuki Kataoka (NITC, Japan), Marcelo Segatto (UFES, Brazil), Thereza Rocco (IME, Brazil), Carmen Garcia (Carlos III University in Madrid, Spain), Yasser Omar (IT – Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal) and  Armando Pinto (IT-University of Aveiro, Portugal).
