Wine production and technology go hand in hand to assert Portugal’s wine producing status
Portugal has a high potential to produce quality wines, especially due to its climate and geological conditions, wine variety and tradition in the sector. But if it is certain that the natural conditions have contributed to strengthen the country’s position as the 12th largest wine producer in the world [1], it is also true that combining technology and these innate factors is key to strengthen this status. Whether in controlling the quality of the wines, managing their commercialisation or classifying wine slots, INESC TEC has been working successfully with national institutions in order to optimise some factors associated with wines and vineyards. An example of a project in this domain is one that revolutionised the concept of wine slot, with an impact on the world’s oldest vineyard site, World Heritage – the WineSlot.

INESC TEC puts Portuguese media on the European map
INESC TEC, together with the TICE.PT – Tecnologias da Informação Comunicação e Electrónica (Centre for Information and Communication Technology and Electronics) and ADDICT – Agência para o Desenvolvimento das Indústrias Criativas (Agency for the Development of Creative Industries), created the platform “NEM Portugal,” which mirrors the European NEM (New European Media). The goal with the platform is to give voice to new media and to boost the export of Portuguese cultural products.

INESC TEC with nine European projects approved as part of the H2020 Programme
INESC TEC had nine projects approved as part of the Horizon 2020 – the Framework-Programme for Research & Innovation in the European Union. Four of those project proposals have been submitted by the Centre for Power and Energy Systems (CPES), two by the Centre for Enterprise Systems Engineering (CESE) and the Centre for Telecommunications and Multimedia (CTM), and one by the Centre for Robotics and Intelligent Systems (CROB).

INESC TEC participates in project in the area of aeronautics
The Centre for Enterprise Systems Engineering (CESE) at INESC TEC is participating in the Entrepreneurial Research Initiative (ERI) “Innovation Dynamics in Aeronautics and Embraer in Évora: Towards a Distributed Platform for Entrepreneurial Initiatives, New Employment and Skills Development”. This ERI will analyse the increasing complexity and uncertainty of technological advances, supply chains and business settings in the aeronautics industry.
