A session to discuss data management strategy for Portugal and Spain

Discussing the data management strategy for Portugal and Spain. This was the main goal of the initiative promoted under the 9th plenum of the RDA – Research Data Alliance, in Barcelona, centred on the subject “Data Infrastructures for Open Science”.

The RDA-Iberia session, that happened last April 4, was organised by Cristina Ribeiro, collaborator of the Centre for Information Systems and Computer Graphics (CSIG) of INESC TEC, together with Eva Méndez, from the University of Carlos III in Madrid, and with the BSC-Barcelona Supercomputing Centre, and was attended by Maria Fernanda Rollo, Secretary of State of Science, Technology and Higher Education, her Spanish counterpart, Clara Eugenia García, and the person in charge of the EU e-infrastructures unit, Augusto Burgueño. A group of selected researchers from Portugal and Spain presented data from each of their specific areas.

The RDA plenums happen biannually, in different locations all over the world, and gather researchers, scientists and engineers, amongst other specialists, with the purpose of sharing not only the knowledge acquired in dozens of work groups and interest groups but also the results among technologies, subjects and even countries.

Established in 2013, the RDA is a community organisation that intends to provide a neutral space so that its members can debate common interests and works, in order to adopt infrastructures that promote the exchange of data and research results.
