Statement about the project

The project presented a plan of action that allowed to identify opportunities to improve the procedures of receiving, handling, storage and expedition of bulk goods, carried out in Silos de Leixões.

The work plan contained four different activities: identification and description of the logistics system, data collection and diagnosis, structuring and problems standardization, proposed solutions/developing plans of action and, as a result, there were identified five major areas of intervention: measurement technologies, operations planning, logistics system, information system and maintenance management.

The multidisciplinarity of the INESC TEC’s team was of great importance to the development of this project, considering the coverage and the diversity of the ongoing processes.

We are committed in implementing the proposed solutions, which will help us to achieve a superior level in our service and increase our activity’s efficiency. We believe that, based on this experience, other collaboration opportunities will come up.
