INESC TEC wins GAPI-CTCP – Technology Innovation award 2011
The Manufacturing Systems Engineering Unit (UESP) at INESC TEC was awarded the GAPI-CTCP prize – Technology Innovation 2011 for the second year running.
Project SIBAP – Automatic Scheduling System for Production Lines for the footwear industry developed by INESC TEC in partnership with FLOWMAT and the CTCP (Portuguese Technological Footwear Centre) was the winner in the software category. The system includes graph operating sequences and is suitable for labour-intensive production. This system aims to tackle flaws and productions losses in particular that occur in current systems that are not prepared for the simultaneous production of various models.
The Industrial Property Support Office (GAPI) of the Portuguese Technological Footwear Centre awarded companies for the technological level of the products they launched on the market in 2011. The awards were presented in four categories: new materials, new footwear products, new equipment and new software.
In addition to SIBAP, ICC- Indústria e Comércio de Calçado, Procalçado - Produtora de Componentes para Calçado and CEI - Companhia de Equipamentos Industriais were awarded in the categories of materials and components, new products and equipment respectively.
The INESC TEC team responsible for project SIBAP includes Rui Rebelo, José Soeiro, Marta Fonseca, Nicolau Santos, Paulo Marques and Pedro Ribeiro.
The award presentation ceremony took place on 16th November at the CTCP as part of the V Jornada ShoeInov 2011.
