Yeah, we knew that researchers at LIAAD wrote papers, but we did not know they wrote about “science for young children”. They were caught in the act - we went through their shelves and what did we find?

Where are you now?

Every month INESC TEC sends highly qualified individuals into the market. Meet some of them.

Serious Thinking

See you soon

By Ana Paula Silva*

I was invited to write this article and I will try to do it seriously, yet in a light and relaxed tone. Our lives sometimes lead us down unforeseen paths and my “trip” to INESC TEC was one of them. This “journey” has been going on for 27 years. That's right, 27 years!

This “journey” allowed me to meet “new worlds” – the work was new to me because I had never worked in an institution like this, the work methods were new, as well as the connection to the academic world. It was all completely unknown, but I really liked it. Most of all, throughout out the years, I have made many friends.

I appreciate the work, the friendships I made and the bonds I created, which last until today because I truly value relationships.

But even though we want to maintain those relationships, sometimes we need to get out of our comfort zone. Change is what makes the world go round. The day of change has come: I was invited to work at one of the institutions of the European Parliament.

I will now leave a world which has already been discovered and go meet a new and different world.

Our adventurous spirit must be fed. That is what INESC TEC is made of, otherwise we wouldn’t be pioneers in innovation and excellence. That spirit characterises me also.

I am going, but I will be back soon. And I leave with the courage and determination required for this type of endeavour.

So see you soon. I'm going to Brussels but I will be back.
