Serious Thinking

" I have to admit that in the beginning, I felt like an odd duck. I did not understand the terminology used and the dynamics was pretty different from what I was used to. I was used to talking about 'emotions', 'feelings' and 'behaviours', as opposed to 'systems', 'networks', 'algorithms'…", Susana Barbosa, C-BER

Member of INESC TEC receives award from University of Applied Sciences Utrecht

Tiago Silva, a member of INESC TEC’s Accounting and Finance service, has received a best student award in an accounting and auditing project from the University of Applied Sciences de Utrecht, the Netherlands.

The project was the result of a partnership between the Porto Accounting and Business School, where Tiago Silva is concluding his Master’s Degree in Accounting and Finance, and the University of Applied Sciences de Utrecht.

In the beginning, teams were created featuring MSc from both countries and each of the teams had to choose a Portuguese and a Dutch listed company.

For the project, the Portuguese team audited TOM TOM from the Netherlands with the purpose of purchasing it, while the Dutch team audited the Portuguese SAG with the same purpose.

All students were evaluated by the Dutch university and Tiago Silva as considered the best student in this project, with a classification of 18 (on a scale of 0 to 20).
