Serious Thinking

" I have to admit that in the beginning, I felt like an odd duck. I did not understand the terminology used and the dynamics was pretty different from what I was used to. I was used to talking about 'emotions', 'feelings' and 'behaviours', as opposed to 'systems', 'networks', 'algorithms'…", Susana Barbosa, C-BER

INESC TEC Wireless Networking with international visibility

INESC TEC’s Centre for Telecommunications and Multimedia (CTM) and the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) joined forces to organise the conference “Wireless Days 2017”, which took place between 27 and 31 March. This international conference brought together researchers, experts, engineers and students, from academia, research centres and industry, in order to discuss and share experiences, ideas and research results in the domain of wireless communications.

According to Manuel Ricardo, one of the people in charge of planning the event, “this was an excellent opportunity to strengthen and create partnerships with colleagues from the five continents and project INESC TEC internationally.”

This annual event, which is now in its 9th edition, has already been organised in different locations, including Dubai, Paris, Venice, Valencia, Rio de Janeiro and Toulouse. This year, the initiative featured three world-renowned speakers: Falko Dressler (University of Paderborn), Edward Knightly (Rice University) and Christian Wietfeld (TU Dortmund University).

For three days, over 90 participants presented different themes, including wireless communication systems, prototypes, case studies and research on the most recent technological advances.

Wireless Days 2017 is sponsored by the IEEE, the IEEE Communications Society, the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP), and the Luso-American Development Foundation (FLAD).
