"Recent scandals may have undermined social networks’ reliability, but it is up to each one of us, its users, to ensure the veracity and credibility of what is published, to use and misuse of accuracy, which is so characteristic of the scientific method, in order to promote science." INESC TEC researchers edit publication on narrative processing

Alípio Jorge and Ricardo Campos (Coordinator and researcher of INESC TEC’s Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support (LIAAD)), respectively, and Sérgio Nunes (researcher of INESC TEC’s Centre for Information Systems and Computer Graphics (CSIG)), alongside Adam Jatowt (from the University of Kyoto, Japan), were the invited editors of Special Issue on Narrative Extraction from Texts (Text2Story), which was published in June at the Information Processing & Management Journal (IPM) of the publisher Elsevier.

This Special Issue, which has eight scientific articles and an introduction chapter, is an important contribution to everyone who is interested in this research domain, and emerged due to the work that has been developed over the last couple of years by this research team in terms of narrative extraction from texts.

IPM is amongst the 20 most important scientific journals of the world in the information systems area, receiving an average of 1000 submissions per year, of which, only (approximately) 12% of them are accepted. Currently, it has an impact factor of 3.892.

The researchers mentioned in this news piece are associated with INESC TEC, UP-FCUP, UP-FEUP and IPT.
