"When there is a team that is capable of representing the Centre with commitment and seriousness while at the same time being in a good mood, the conditions for success are met." Henrique and João (CPES)

Serious Thinking

"Recent scandals may have undermined social networks’ reliability, but it is up to each one of us, its users, to ensure the veracity and credibility of what is published, to use and misuse of accuracy, which is so characteristic of the scientific method, in order to promote science." INESC TEC participates in international conference on graphic visualisation

EuroVis 2019 – 21st EG / VGTC Conference on Visualization - is the name of the international conference that was organised by the Portuguese Computer Graphics Group (GPCG), in association with INESC ID Lisbon and INESC TEC, and which was held between 3 and 7 June at the Alfândega Porto Congress Centre.

The goal of EuroVis conference - Conference on Visualisation, which is already on its 21st annual edition, is to create and to strengthen relationships between researchers and professionals in the information, scientific and data visualisation area in order to promote collaborations and to attract more and more attention to a fast-growing research area. The collaboration of INESC TEC in the organisation was made through the Centre for Information Systems and Computer Graphics (CSIG), namely through António Coelho, Luís Paulo Santos and Maximino Bessa.

The visualisation field is an increasingly important research area due to its wide range of applications in many subjects. In general, the ability to collect and store data far exceeds the ability to extract knowledge from it. As such, data visualisation is fundamental to understand large and complex data sets, exploring the human visual system, taking advantage of computer graphics in order to provide an overview, to explore, analyse and to present phenomena that are often difficult to understand.

Around 304 participants from 28 countries attended the event.

The researchers mentioned in this news piece are associated with INESC TEC, FEUP, UMinho and UTAD.
