LIADD, CRACS, UTM and USIG participate in online music recommendation project
The project of the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF/QREN), Palco 3.0, from the company Palco Principal, with the participation of the Laboratory of Artificial Intelligent and Decision Support (LIAAD), the Centre for Research in Advanced Computing Systems (CRACS), the Telecommunications and Multimedia Unit (UTM) and the Information and Computer Graphics Systems (USIG), has just launched a new online product.
A user registered in the website http://palcoprincipal.sapo.pt is capable of entering his own “stage" and, for instance, listen to the songs on his playlist or obtain a list of songs especially “chosen” for him.
The system is based on data mining, collective filtering and audio analysis (musical content) recommendations, which are generated on-the-fly from the preferences of similar users or from similarities in the music itself. The functionality is already being produced and has already managed to get thousands of hits.
The behaviour and the acceptance of the users regarding the automatic recommendations/suggestions is being monitored and assessed by control groups. For more information, go to the website.
