USE and USIG develop project for Greece
INESC Porto signed a consulting contract with the Public Power Corporation, the largest electrical power company in Greece, producing and distributing electricity for the entire country. The purpose is to define the architecture of the system that controls electric power grids in several Greek islands.
The consulting work that will be provided by INESC Porto consists of the analysis of the control and monitoring systems in about 40 Greek islands, including Crete and Rhodes, and the study of the means of communication with the facilities of Public Power Corporation, located in Athens. This way, the intention is to define the architecture of the new control centre, to be installed in Athens, as well as the architecture of the local control centres, to be installed in each island.
This is a multidisciplinary project that involves Tomé Saraiva and Jorge Pereira, of the Power Systems Unit (USE), and Paulo Monteiro, of the Information and Computer Graphics Systems Unit (USIG).
