UESP concludes project on demand forecasting for retail

The Manufacturing Systems Engineering Unit (UESP) has recently finished a project in the area of demand that can be applied in distribution and retail.

This work was requested by Wipro Retail in the context of a vaster Research and Technological Development (RTD) within the QREN programme (National Strategic Reference Framework), and its main results are a methodological framework to support the problem of forecasting sales and a tool that performs sales forecasting simulations based on historical data.

The project is coordinated by Abdur Rais, with the collaboration of Luís Carneiro, Pedro Ribeiro and Pedro Souto, all from UESP, and Bernardo Almada Lobo of the Industrial Management and Engineering Unit (UGEI).
