MCTES renews INESC Porto LA’s statute as Associate Laboratory

The Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Mariano Gago, has signed the order on INESC Porto LA’s status as Associate Laboratory to renew the statute for 10 more years, which will correspond to the funding scheme of five years plus a further five years. Within the order, the new LA model incorporates INESC Porto and the Associate Units.

This renewal means that INESC Porto LA will be officially recognised as an Associate Laboratory with a distributed architecture. The Associate Laboratory now formally consists of INESC Porto and the Associate Units LIAAD, CRACS, UGEI and CISTER which are associated with the Faculties of Economics, Science and Engineering of the University of Porto and ISEP, the Higher Education Engineering Institute in Porto.

HASLab, an INESC Porto LA Privileged Partner, is not accounted for because it must be an autonomous R&D Unit subjecting it to individual evaluation. If the results of the evaluation are “Very Good” or “Excellent” they will be able to request to join INESC Porto LA.
