Alberto Pinto elected President of International Centre for Mathematics
Alberto Pinto, Vice-Director of the Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support (LIAAD), an INESC TEC Associate Unit, was elected president of the International Centre for Mathematics (CIM). Alberto assumed his role as president on 20th May.
The CIM is a private non-profit association that aims to develop and promote research in mathematics. His candidacy for President was due to his development of mathematics in Portugal, strengthening international visibility. He has also organised various international seminars and conferences to promote interdisciplinary links with other areas of science, engineering and industry and developed collaborative programmes between the academic world and industry.
Alberto Pinto is also a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the Faculty of Science of the University of Porto (FCUP) and conducts research in Discrete Dynamical Systems, Universality, Renormalization, Differentiability, Cellular Automata.
