"I started working at INESC Porto as soon as I graduated. I stayed here for eight years and this was where I concluded my PhD. After I finished my doctoral studies, I was curious about the industrial environment...", Diana Viegas

Where are you now?

Every month INESC TEC sends highly qualified individuals into the market. These individuals often then go on to occupy important positions in some of the best national and international companies or they opt to form spin-offs. As the best way to perform technology transfer is through individuals, this section is dedicated to collaborators that trained at INESC TEC and now star in other companies and institutions.

"Since my departure from INESC Porto, I have been teaching and coordinating the Telecommunications and Computer Engineering course at ISPGaya. I have also participated in R&D activities at IT-Aveiro and ISPGaya. I have also done some consulting work in the area.

Working at INESC Porto was an extremely enriching experience. At INESC Porto I found a multidisciplinary team and a remarkable work environment. In those years, I had the opportunity to contact with an R&D reality which greatly improved my knowledge and I shaped me in an extraordinary way.

Looking now to INESC Porto from the outside, I can honestly say that it is still a relevant and acknowledged institution especially for the notoriety of its R&D. It is still an extremely important institution that works as an interface with the University."

In 1997 I proudly and enthusiastically became part of Audio Group of the Telecommunications and Multimedia Unit (UTM) at INESC Porto as research fellow. And it was there that for 14 years I matured as a person and as a professional under the guidance of great professors (of which I would like to highlight Prof. Aníbal Ferreira, Prof. Pimenta Alves, Prof. Pedro Guedes de Oliveira and Prof. José Ruela) and alongside many great colleagues who have become great friends.

The opportunity to work in the area that is my passion - Sound - I owe largely to INESC Porto and to all the opportunities that were given to me.

It is with great pride that I realise that INESC Porto continues to grow and characterising its activity by excellence. Although I have officially left INESC Porto, my true connection to this house is unbreakable: with INESC Porto I share much of my own story, and so I can only express my gratitude.
