INESC TEC provides consulting services on satellite telecommunications

INESC TEC’s Telecommunications and Multimedia Unit (UTM) will soon start an R&D contract with Sinuta, SA, a company located in Estarreja (Portugal), as part of project WISAT.

Benefiting from the Unit’s expertise in microwave engineering, researchers at UTM will develop prototypes and devices, with an emphasis on long-range MIMO solutions and VSAT applications in Ka band, which can be used for communications in remote and dispersed locations.

Sinuta, SA is a leading company in Europe which produces all kinds of satellite dishes for the telecommunications market. Anticipating a growing need for broadband services, this project aims at providing two-way broadband access via satellite, simultaneously seeking solutions based on point-to-point long-range connections with AirMax technology.
