INESC TEC/FEUP spin-off company highlighted in the US
Tomorrow Options, a spin-off company incubated by INESC TEC and the Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto (FEUP), was selected to demonstrate the MovinSense equipment at the Connect Health Symposium 2012, which will take place between 25 and 26 October, in Boston, United States of America (USA).
The MovinSense is a medical device that makes it possible to monitor bedridden patients in order to prevent pressure ulcers. The device records the position of the patient and communicates via wireless with the nursing teams, warning them whenever it is necessary to reposition a patient. This is a task that must be performed at least every two hours (on average). However, the interval depends on the condition of each patient.
Tomorrow Options was selected along with 29 other companies in group of more than 200. This Portuguese company is the only European company represented at the event. This is one of the main events in the US on health care technology, and therefore it is an excellent business opportunity as it attracts all kinds of stakeholders, including investors, potential customers, technology developers, doctors and researchers.
