CISTER/INESC TEC researcher wins award

Luís Miguel Pinho, vice-director of INESC TEC’s Research Centre in Real-Time and Embedded Computing Systems (CISTER), received an “Outstanding Ada Community Contribution Award” as part of the Conference ACM SIGAda High Integrity Language Technology, which took place between 2 to 6 December, in Boston, United States of America (USA).

The award, given by the Special Interest Group on Ada of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), recognises individuals and organisations that have made outstanding contributions to the Ada community, as well as broad and lasting contributions to Ada technology and usage.

The Ada programming language was created in the 1980s to manage the increasing complexity of building embedded real-time systems. Luís Miguel Pinho has been working for several years in this area, contributing to the advance of real-time mechanisms. More recently, the researcher has started working on parallel real-time system programming on many-core embedded platforms. In 2007, Luís Miguel Pinho became a member of the board of the Ada-Europe organisation and Editor-in-Chief of the Ada User Journal.
