Where are you now?
Every month INESC TEC sends highly qualified individuals into the market. These individuals often then go on to occupy important positions in some of the best national and international companies or they opt to form spin-offs. As the best way to perform technology transfer is through individuals, this section is dedicated to collaborators that trained at INESC TEC and now star in other companies and institutions.

Explain your experience since leaving INESC TEC
I am currently doing my PhD at the Federal University of Santa Catarina – UFSC – in the field of Power Systems. Furthermore, I work at INESC P&D Brasil, where I conduct research and development. With a degree in Mathematics and a Master’s in Applied Mathematics, the work I developed at INESC TEC allowed me to add value to my training. Moreover, at INESC TEC I met people who helped me (and still do) throughout my journey. I also grew as a person and became more open minded.
I read news about INESC TEC in BIP and I see that it is still a reference, not only in research but also in terms of strategic partnerships with industry, both in Portugal and abroad.

Explain your experience since leaving INESC TEC
When I left INESC TEC in 2014, I started working at Ubiquity Technology, a company located in Porto. Ubiquity has a lot in common with INESC TEC because they both develop software projects and solutions for different clients. They both contribute to the growth and competitiveness of technology in the Portuguese market, working closely with universities.
My experience at INESC TEC was very enriching. I’ve learned agile development methodologies with César Toscano and Pedro Ribeiro, and they showed me new tools, frameworks and APIs to develop quality software. I have also learned from Rui Rebelo that one of the most important things is the user’s experience with the software we develop. I thank them for their patience in the two years I worked at INESC TEC.

Explain your experience since leaving INESC TEC
I work at AHAK-IS, a Dutch company that inspects oil and gas pipelines. We have devices that monitor the pipelines and assess anomalies, such as corrosions or dents.
Working at INESC TEC was key to prepare me for this new professional challenge. In fact, the type of projects and research developed at INESC TEC, and the people who work there are key aspects for our professional development, and that has certainly prepared me for my new job.
