INESC Porto winds up AC/DC project with positive results
The final review meeting for project AC/DC took place on 13th December in Stuttgart, Germany with all participants present along with assessors from the European Community (EC). The AC/DC project is a European project developed with INESC Porto as a member of the consortium. The project was created to develop methods capable of producing a personalised car in just five days and the results were certainly positive. Project AC/DC began in November 2006, it officially ended in September 2010 and both the EC assessors and the groups responsible for the project were very happy with the results.
On 14th December Stuttgart hosted the AC/DC second international conference, where companies such as Continental Automotive Systems and ZF Friedrichshafen presented the methodological approaches and processes developed by AC/DC to enable the production of a customised car in so few days.
AC/DC 5 Days Car is a European project led by Continental Teves partnered with BMW, Volkswagen, automotive suppliers from all over Europe and even institutes and universities, including INESC Porto who is represented by the Manufacturing Systems Engineering Unit (UESP). Throughout the AC/DC project concepts and methods were developed to improve the automobile production process.
