INESC TEC helps the EDP estimate investments

INESC TEC's Power Systems Unit (USE) is currently collaborating with the EDP Distribuição (a Portuguese electricity distribution company) in a project where the aim is to implement procedures that will allow the distribution network to estimate the investments required for the electricity distribution network.

The current legislation for the power sector determines that the distribution system operator should elaborate a Development and Investment Plan for the Distribution Network mentioning necessary investments, such as those resulting, for instance, from requests for new connections.

The aim with these studies is to identify how these investments depend on each other and the reasons behind them, namely how consumptions and economic indicators evolve (for instance, the construction index and the inflation rate). In this project, INESC TEC is responsible for all technical developments.

The INESC TEC team involved in this project is set up by Manuel Matos, João Tomé Saraiva, Nuno Fidalgo, Filipe Azevedo and Nuno Fonseca.
