UNICAMP broadens INESC Brazil Network

The prestigious State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), located in the State of São Paulo, has recently joined the INESC Brazil Network. The partnership between INESC TEC and INESC P&D Brasil (INESC R&D Brazil) was signed by UNICAMP’s director.

The signing of the protocol is the culmination of a long process, and is the result of the will of the Professors of Electric Engineering to join the Network and to establish a partnership with INESC TEC. This willingness was confirmed upstream by the respective Department, the Members of the Faculty of Engineering, and finally the University’s higher-level bodies.

Embodying the spirit of the Network, with the support of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), INESC P&D Brasil is already supporting a postdoctoral researcher, in Campinas, who is now working on joint research projects with a research group at UNICAMP.

INESC TEC had already worked with UNICAMP, in a partnership that also involved the Federal University of Pará, on a project for TBE – Transmissoras Brasileiras de Energia SA (Brazilian power transmission company). The goal with this work, conducted by INESC TEC’s Centre for Applied Photonics (CAP), was to develop an innovative optical sensing solution to monitor high voltage power lines in the Amazon.
