First researchers in the Iberian Peninsula to be global certified analytics professionals

On 9 April, Bernardo Almada-Lobo, member of the Board of INESC TEC, and Pedro Amorim, coordinator of INESC TEC’s Centre for Industrial Engineering and Management (CEGI), took an exam in Orlando (USA) to obtain the CAP®, the global professional certification for premier analytics practitioner. There are only 350 certified people in the world, with the majority coming from the US and Canada.

This certification, obtained during the "Informs Conference on Business Analytics & Operations Research" conference, ensures a reliable means to identify and recruit top human resources in the area of analytics, which can agree on and set standards for the profession.

CAP

The exam covers seven analytics areas: business problem framework, identifying the analytics problem, data, selection methodology (approach), model creation, model implementation and lifecycle management.
Other than the exam, the CAPs also depends on joining the Code of Ethics, and on the effective mastery of soft skills, experience and training in analytics.

The INESC TEC researcher mentioned in this news piece is associated with UP-FEUP.
