Spin-off from INESC Porto awarded by the British Ambassador

Tomorrow Options, a spin-off company from INESC Porto, has recently established a branch office in the United Kingdom. The company was also awarded with the "Investment Awards" by the British Ambassador in Portugal. Thus, the company is included in the group of best Portuguese researchers in the UK, considering the importance of the company’s project WalkinSense.

With the aim of commercializing its first product – the medical device WalkinSense, developed in collaboration with INESC Porto, FEUP and INEGI, to prevent and assess the effects of lower limb pathologies, namely the diabetic foot disease –, Tomorrow Options has recently established a branch office in Sheffield, UK, thus investing in one of the European markets with a higher diabetes rate.

On 11 March, five Portuguese companies – Tomorrow Options, Frezite (INESC Porto’s long-time partner), Alert, RAR, and Alfama – were awarded by the UK Trade & Investment, an organisation of the British Ministry of the Economy that supports foreign companies trying to expand their business to the United Kingdom.

The establishment of this branch office in Sheffield made the news on 12 March in the British newspaper The Sheffield Star. According to Paulo Santos, Tomorrow Options’ CEO, the choice for this location was unanimous within the Board due to the quality of the incubation and support services available in Sheffield. At the same time, that is where the world’s most renowned experts in diabetes diagnosis and treatment are. This is yet another step forward to the growing expansion of the Portuguese company.
