Free Nonsense

"I never imagined that at the institute (INESC TEC) I would have the opportunity to get to know and talk to the people whose articles I had read and admired...", Paola Soto Rojas (UESP)

Have your say

"My story in Portugal begins on a sunny day in February 2011. I can still remember the last moments of that freaky flight from Tehran (Iran) to Lisbon. When the plane landed, I had no idea of what was awaiting me." Samaneh Khoshrou (UTM)

Gallery of the Uncommon

It was in INESC TEC’s canteen that an impressive fire would reveal a well hidden secret. Eye witnesses reveal an incredible story: a super hero, whose identity remains hidden (or is it?)...

Jobs 4 the Boys & Girls

In this section, the reader may find reference to public announcements made by INESC Porto offering grants, contracts and other opportunities of the same kind.

Every month, this section will honour a collaborator for an exceptional contribution in his/her area of activity. BIP’s Editors will have the final choice. However, the cooperation of every Unit Coordinator is precious since they will be the ones suggesting which collaborator should be distinguished...

Tânia Calçada and Hélder Fontes

For their extraordinary performance in the development of project SITMe and for being able to put communications services that have worked outstandingly in 11 STCP buses.

Carlos Moreira

Carlos Moreira is a higher education professor and he is responsible for Smart Grid in USE. He is also directly responsible for other projects, such as the European project TWENTIES and project REN-FACTS and studies conducted for ENERCON and EDP (reversible groups). In addition, he has an important role in managing project REIVE. He has actively participated in all of these projects, producing results and deliverables. In February he was particularly active in these projects and he showed real dedication and produced very high quality work.

Margarida Gonçalves

As suggested by others from the Department of Information and Logistics, I would like to put Margarida Gonçalves in the limelight. She coordinated the Human Resources team and oversaw the update of the INESC TEC research team on the FCT’s IT system.

With the addition of the associate units LIAAD, CRACS, UGEI, CISTER and the privileged partner HASLab, this task has become much more complex and requires dedication, persistence and a great deal of patience and extra work for Margarida and her team in order to ensure that the whole team is successfully updated within the time limit.

Despite being hugely necessary for INESC TEC funding and recognition as an Associate Laboratory, their work is often invisible and not often recognised. As the worker ants must be recognised I would like to nominate Margarida Gonçalves as the head of the Human Resources team for the limelight in March.
