"My story in Portugal begins on a sunny day in February 2011. I can still remember the last moments of that freaky flight from Tehran (Iran) to Lisbon. When the plane landed, I had no idea of what was awaiting me." Samaneh Khoshrou (UTM)

INESC TEC hosts French university

On 7th March INESC TEC hosted a visit from 30 Masters students studying European Project Management at the University of Cergy-Pontoise in France. In addition to visiting INESC TEC, the group also had the opportunity to visit PRODUTECH – the Production Tecnology Centre, coordinated by José Carlos Caldeira, the Director of INESC Porto (the coordinating entity of INESC TEC).

The aim of these students was to visit institutions, associations, companies and clusters that work on a European level. PRODUTECH was chosen for its intervention in the manufacturing industry and due to the importance that this industry has in the Portuguese economy.

At the INESC Porto headquarters the students attended a presentation by José Carlos Caldeira on PRODUTECH’s mission. This is a cluster of production technology providers that are capable of responding to the challenges and requirements in terms of competitiveness and sustainability in the manufacturing industry and producing innovative, integrated, flexible and competitive solutions. INESC Porto is one of its founding members and has played an important role in its development and consolidation.

Vanessa Spiczonek (student at the University of Cergy-Pontoise)

“Our Masters is in European projects; therefore it is clear that clusters are extremely interesting for us. Despite being interested in various topics, such as culture, economy, politics, the clusters are the most relevant for us”.

We understand that PRODUTECH is a very important cluster especially in the manufacturing industry and we believe it is very important to the Portuguese economy. Therefore, it was the cluster we had to visit. We found information about the cluster from the European Cluster Observatory and based on our knowledge of the Portuguese economy we concluded that it was the most relevant”.
