UFRN signs agreement to join INESC Brazil Network

In a long expected development, the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte formalised their membership with the INESC Brazil Network, in a ceremony organised by the Director of the University and the Director-President of INESC P&D Brasil.

The UFRN was one of the  universities to support the idea of an alliance with a number of Brazilian universities and INESC TEC. In 2010, the then Director of that Brazilian University, Ivonildo Rego, travelled to Porto to sign an agreement of intention to join the network; after that, the then dean for research, Bernardete Sousa (together with advisor Aldayr Araújo), held a meeting with Vladimiro Miranda and a set of representatives from various universities  at CNPq, to discuss the model and the importance of the INESC Brazil Network.

Due to unplanned circumstances, only now was it possible for the UFRN to formally join the Network, which brings together INESC TEC and the following partners: UFPA, UFCG, UNIFEI, UFJF, UFF, UNICAMP, UNESP, UFTPR and UFSC. With this agreement, the goal is for the institutions to conduct activities in partnership, and there are already different initiatives taking place to put together joint research projects.

The INESC TEC researcher mentioned in this article is associated with the following partner institution: UP-FEUP.
