INESC TEC celebrates another year of work at the Multicultural Party

About 12 different nationalities contributed to another edition of INESC TEC’s Multicultural Party, a party that was held on 14 December and that marks the end of a year of work and overcoming. Russia, Brazil, Mexico, Iran, Colombia, Paraguay, India, Cape Verde, Indonesia were some of the countries that presented themselves to INESC TEC community.

Different colours and flavours decorated the tables with sweat and salty delicacies, drinks and snacks, bringing together several cultures of an institution that is also set apart for its multiculturalism, covering approximately 15% of foreigners collaborators. Being a celebration that is already a tradition of the institution, INESC TEC’s Multicultural Party is an annual internal activity that not only intends to provide moments of tasting and sharing, but also to provide interaction and fraternisation moments.

The event had also musical support by the INESC TEC Jazz Band that brought in a special guest this year. Ana Paula Silva (CSIG) as singer, Ana Barros (CESE) in the flute, Gaspar Pacheco (CAP) in the bass, Rui Rodrigues (CSIG) in the drums and Pedro Campos (LIAAD) in the keyboard were accompanied by Leonel Morgado (CSIG) and by his Portuguese guitar.

Balance of this last year while looking to the next one

José Manuel Mendonça, Chairman of INESC TEC's Board, welcomed the participants with a few words about INESC TEC’s path in the last year. Highlighting some memorable moments of the year that is coming to an end, José Manuel Mendonça emphasised how far INESC TEC has come and the involvement of everyone to the success achieved.

Regarding the perspectives for the future, João Claro, Chief Executive Officer, was responsible for this reflection and presented, at first hand, some of the priority projects for INESC TEC’s Board for the next year. Human resources restructuring, new infrastructures and greater involvement of the collaborators in the management of the institution are some of the areas that will define the next paths to be taken by all collaborators.

INESC TEC Community awarded in several areas

At the beginning of the party, several awards were given related to all nominees of “Limelight 2018” - a section of INESC TEC's monthly newsletter, BIP, which intends to highlight, every month, the work of some collaborators as an individual or a team. (check bellow the list of the winners)

Another moment was dedicated to the winners of the team building initiative, known as “INESC TEC on the move”, an internal event considered essential and that is already on its second edition. All elements of the teams that classified in first, second or third places, Ouro Team, Green Power and Brasas, respectively, were highlighted.

There was also the opportunity to award the winners of the “Holidays 2018” Photo Competition, which was promoted by the Communication Service. The winners of this year were Tiago Silva from Management Control Service (CG) (Vote by the Jury), and José Torres from CESE (Public Vote).

The participation exceeded the expectations once again, making the Auditorium a small space to receive such a broad community. Considering the success of another edition, the organisation of the Multicultural Party 2019 has already been ensured.

To all collaborators, participants, actors and winners, SCOM concludes with a sincere thank you for having contributed to the success of this initiative.
