Secretary of State for Energy visits INESC TEC
João Galamba, Secretary of State for Energy, visited INESC TEC on 15 April, being accompanied by its Head of Office.
The visit started with an institutional presentation of INESC TEC by José Manuel Mendonça, Chairman of the Board, in which the institution was globally introduced, as well as its scientific innovation model and its activity in the several fields of science and technology to which it is dedicated. In particular, regarding the energy area, the Centre for Power and Energy Systems (CPES) and its activity was presented by its Coordinator, Ricardo Bessa.
Then, the delegation also had the opportunity to get to know the Laboratory of Smart Grids and Electric Vehicles through a presentation led by João Peças Lopes, Associate Director of INESC TEC, who also presented a demonstration about monitoring solutions of the LV grid with a great volume of photovoltaic solar production. Also at this laboratory, David Rua, researcher of CPES, presented the HEMS system – “Home Energy Management System”, which was developed by INESC TEC in order to interconnect with smart meters or smart meters of electrical energy.
The group was also accompanied by Luís Seca, Member of INESC TEC's Board, and Manuel Matos, Coordinator of CPES, who both had an active role in the debates that followed each moment.
The visit of the Secretary of State for Energy was carried out with a view to better understand the technical capacity of INESC TEC in order to support the implementation of the National Energy-Climate Plan (PNEC2030) and the Roadmap for Carbon Neutrality.
