European conference on computing had the participation of INESC TEC

INESC TEC was involved in the organisation of the second edition of the workshop “Text2Story 2019 - Second International Workshop on Narrative Extraction from Texts”, an initiative integrated into ECIR 2019 (41st European Conference on Information Retrieval), which was held in Germany between 14 and 18 April. The main focus of this particular activity were the aspects related to the construction of consistent narrative structures from texts.

Besides including in the organising committee Alípio Jorge and Ricardo Campos, coordinator and researcher of the Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support (LIAAD), respectively, alongside Adam Jatowt and Sumit Bahtia, this workshop had around 40 participants.

Also as a part of ECIR 2019, Ricardo Campos was an invited speaker of another workshop entitled “Third Workshop on Social Media for Personalization And Search (SoMePeAS 2019)”, which was dedicated to the power achieved by the social media platforms in gathering information about their users.

The 42th edition of ECIR will be held in 2020 in Portugal (Lisbon) and will have Ricardo Campos, as well as Sérgio Nunes and Carla Teixeira Lopes (collaborators of INESC TEC’s Centre for Information Systems and Computer Graphics (CSIG)) in the organisation.
