European Commissioner for Research and Innovation and Minister for Science visit INESC Porto

Máire Geoghegan, European Commissioner for Research and Innovation, Mariano Gago, the Portuguese Minister for for Science, Technology and Higher Education, and José Marques dos Santos, dean of the University of Porto, visited INESC Porto’s facilities on 17 October.

During the visit, some of INESC Porto Research Units were presented and a few important projects were highlighted. The visit was concluded with a demonstration by Fibersensing, an INESC Porto spin-off company, followed by a presentation on the institution. The Commissioner had the opportunity to learn more about the work developed by INESC Porto, especially in what relates to technology transfer and knowledge valorization, and to assess the quality of the research developed at the University of Porto, with several examples of applied research and articulation with the economic context.
