USIG presents results of project on e-Health

The third global meeting of the ICT4DEPRESSION project, developed by the Information and Computer Graphics Systems Unit (USIG), was held on 30 and 31 August at the University of Amsterdam. At the meeting, it was possible to conclude the definitions of the treatment modules to be incorporated, its sequence and the sensor mechanisms and the information to use.

ICT4Depression is the first e-Health project applied to mental health and its aim is to develop an innovative treatment method that is alternative or complementary to the currently used ones. It uses the capacities of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to maintain a detailed follow-up of the patient’s evolution, as autonomously as possible, minimizing the costs of medical procedures and facilitating the patient’s fast recovery, and social and emotional reintegration.

Other than INESC Porto, responsible for designing and implementing the architecture and for creating the demonstration prototype, the following institutions are also participating in this project: the University of Amsterdam (project coordinator) in the Netherlands, the Linköping Universitet in Sweden, the University of Limerick in Ireland, the Pharmionic Systems in Switzerland and PLUX Engenharia de Biosensores in Portugal.
