USIG prepares Ambient Assisted Living solution for e-CAALYX

The Information and Computer Graphics Systems Unit (USIG) has promoted, on 22 and 23 June, the third meeting of the European project eCAALYX (Enhanced Complete Ambient Assisted Living Experiment), which took place at INESC Porto. In the meeting, it was possible to define the dates for the development and field tests, and to discuss the future positioning in the market, namely as far as problems associated to the certification of the Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) solutions are concerned.

All project components are being developed. INESC Porto’s team is currently developing the integration software with medical sensors and the user interface of the mobile system. eCAALYX started in June 2009 and will be concluded in May 2012.

In the project, INESC Porto is responsible for the technical coordination, as well as for the development of a mobile phone application to monitor users and a distributed monitoring platform based on observation patterns. USIG’s team is coordinated by Ângelo Martins.
