INESC TEC starts project SECRETS on photovoltaic energy
The Institut de Recherche en Energie et Solarie Energies Nouvelles (IRESEN) in Morocco has recently approved project SECRETS – “L’Intégration intelligente de l’énergie photovoltaïque au réseau de consommation domestique avec le développement d’applications spécifiques au contexte marocain”, as part of the call InnoPV.
The goal with this project is to implement a smart grids laboratory, including the development of prototypes of inverters for connecting solar photovoltaic and wind power systems to the grid.
INESC TEC will be responsible for defining the architecture and specification of the laboratory infrastructure, as well as supporting and providing training to five PhD students who will develop advanced prototypes and remain in Portugal for a period of six months. The Power Systems Unit (USE) team involved in this project is composed of Vladimiro Miranda, Luís Seca, Carlos Moreira and Luís Miguel Miranda.
The project has a duration of three years and it involves, besides INESC TEC, the Moroccon Ecole Nationale des Sciences Appliquées de Kenitra, Université Ibn Tofail, Ecole Normale Supérieure de l’Enseignement Technique de Mohammedia, AGT Maroc, OCP Group and also the University of Houston in the United States .
The INESC TEC researchers mentioned in this article are associated with the following partner institutions: INESC Porto and FEUP: INESC Porto and FEUP.
