INESC TEC organises European Conference on parallel and distributed computing
The Centre for Research in Advanced Computing Systems (CRACS) at INESC TEC has organised, together with the Department of Computer Science and the Faculty of Science of the University of Porto, the 20th International European Conference on Parallel and Distributed Computing (Euro-Par 2014), which took place between 25 and 29 August. Tutorials, workshops, discussions and lectures on parallel and distributed computing gathered about 300 participants from 33 countries at the Faculty of Science of the University of Porto.
The conference covered a wide range of topics, from theory and algorithms, software technology and scalable hardware architectures, with three invited speakers and 68 papers submitted to review by four peers. The proceedings of the conference were edited by the CRACS coordinator, Fernando Silva, and researchers Inês Dutra and Vítor Santos Costa, and published in Springer’s Lecture Notes in Computer Science da Springer, volume 8632.
Simultaneously to the conference, there were also 18 workshops that promoted the exchange of ideas around the main theme of the conference. The programme also featured two tutorials, “High-performance parallel graph analytics” and “Heterogeneous Memory Models”, and a discussion panel called “T”.
Besides organising the event, CRACS was also represented by researchers David Aparício, Pedro Paredes and Pedro Ribeiro at the 7th International Workshop on Multi-/Many-Core Computing Systems (MuCoCos), where they presented the paper “A Scalable Parallel Approach for subgraph Census Computation”.
Held annually, the Euro-Par is a forum of excellence at European level to discuss the latest technical and scientific advances in parallel and distributed computing. This event brings together academia, industry and research institutions.
