Limelight
Every month, this section will honour a collaborator for an exceptional contribution in his/her area of activity. BIP’s Editors will have the final choice. However, the cooperation of every Unit Coordinator is precious since they will be the ones suggesting which collaborator should be distinguished.
Filipe Neves dos Santos, CRIIS - November
The coordinator of the Centre for Robotics and Intelligent Systems (CRIIS) stated: "We would like to nominate Filipe Neves dos Santos for the Limelight for his work in the TEC4AGRO-FOOD field. More specifically, we are nominating him for the co-promoted project he secured (RoMoVi) and for the work he is doing as Manager of the FARM2030. His work needs to be highlighted for everything he is doing in the field of robotics, and he always finds the time to help his colleagues."
Joana Desport Coelho, SCOM - November
The Centre for Power and Energy Systems stated: "We would like to nominate Joana Desport Coelho for the Limelight for her role in project H2020 UPGrid, led by Iberdrola Distribuição, where INESC TEC is defining advanced functionalities to manage electrical grids. Following the withdrawal from one of the partners, the project coordinator challenged us to lead the entire dissemination of the project. Joana Coelho readily took on this task, participating in meetings with the technical committee, where she struggled to convince people, who usually disregard dissemination, about the importance of this task and the impact that this kind of action has on projects. She was able to present, clearly and assertively, the necessary arguments to create viral marketing campaigns and multimédia content, and she is doing that very efficiently. We commend her commitment in disseminating the project’s image and the image of the institution to a higher standard. Moreover, she has managed to request and lead interviews with the main media outlets, both nationally and internationally. She is an excellent professional, admired by the remaining partners, and for that reason, her work is worth highlighting.”
Mário Amorim Lopes, CEGI - December
The Coordinators of the Centre for Industrial Engineering and Management (CEGI) stated: "In December 2016, Mário Amorim Lopes was appointed ‘deputy’ of the Health Parliament Portugal, an initiative promoted by Nova University, Jansen-Cilag, Expresso and Microsoft. Mário was one of 60 people selected from 500 applications, and he will now join work groups which will be responsible for analysing public policies in the field of health, as well as give opinions and recommendations to be discussed with members of the National Assembly. All this will bring immense visibility to CEGI and INESC TEC, and it is also an important step for us to create critical mass and play a more active role in public policy decision-making. It is important to stress that this is perfectly aligned with Mário’s research fields of expertise – Management and Health Economy, and Public Policies. Additionally, this month Mário was also appointed member of the Management Committee of European project RANCARE, funded by the EU Cost."
Renata Rodrigues, CTM - December
The Coordinator of the Centre for Telecommunications and Multimedia (CTM) stated: “We would like to nominate our Secretary, Renata Rodrigues, for her professionalism, autonomy and dedication in all her tasks. Particularly in December, she handled a high number of processes with very short deadlines, and she also organised CTM’s Christmas dinner.”
