Advanced robotics technologies make industrial production more innovative

The researchers involved in the project will develop decision support tools, aligned with an efficient use of advanced technologies for production systems.

The goal is to respond to future challenges in industry related to "High-mix High customisation", where various products are produced in small series and with short life cycles. In these future production lines, adaptive production systems and real-time decision-making will be needed to make full use of the potential of advanced robotics.

Project DM4 Manufacturing, officially launched on December 5 at a meeting held at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Coimbra, includes two pilot applications, one in the automotive industry and another in the aeronautics industry.

In addition to INESC TEC, the institutions involved in the project are IST-ID (Lisbon) and the University of Coimbra.
