HASLab/INESC TEC’s Green Software Lab receives international award

HASLab/INESC TEC has received a merit award from the North-American company National Instruments (NI). The company awarded HASLab’s for its credible research line and innovative ideas developed in the area of green software computing, which can be applied to NI’s LabView software.

The distinction, awarded as a result of HASLab’s research efforts to reduce energy consumption by analysing and transforming software, will be given during the IEEE Symposium on Visual Languages and Human-Centric Computing (VL/HCC 2014).

In a competition that took place parallel to the conference, the scientific paper “Energy Consumption Detection in LabVIEW”, written by HASLab researchers Jácome Cunha, João Paulo Fernandes, Jorge Mendes, Rui Pereira and João Saraiva, also took home the first prize. In the paper, the researchers explain how they detected faults in energy consumption using Spectrum-Fault Localisation techniques.

The INESC TEC researchers mentioned in this article are associated with the following partner institutions: UMinho.
