New European project about business ecosystems begins

MANUfacturing ecoSystem of QUAlified Resources Exchange (Manu-Square H2020-NMBP-2017) it’s a project operated by INESC TEC’s Centre for Enterprise Systems Engineering (CESE). Its kick-off meeting took place on 30 and 31 January in Manno, Switzerland, at the coordinating entity's premises, SUPSI.

The project MANU-SQUARE aims to creat a European ecosystem supported by a platform that operates in a virtual market that mobilizes (extra) production capacity available, as well as other physical and virtual assets, in order to meet production requirements. In this sense, it will be possible to achieve optimum fit of demand and supply. On the one hand, this approach promotes the rapid and efficient creation of local and distributed value networks for innovative full-service providers and, on the other hand, the total use of unused production capacity and the potential for it to be wasted otherwise.

With António Lucas Soares and Henrique Diogo Silva, coordinator and collaborator of this project, respectively, INESC TEC will be responsible for the work package “WP 6 – Demonstration pilots in the machine tools and silk sectors”. Furthermore, INESC TEC will also participate in coordinating the development of a reputation-building mechanism for confidence-building and for assessing the reliability of the ecosystem nodes. INESC TEC will also contribute to the development of a semantic ecosystem meta-model and domain-specific ontologies in the industrial sector of machine tools, and to the requirements of the interaction of IoT devices with blockchain services in the context of production application of machine tools.

Besides INESC TEC, this project also has the partnership of other institutions: Scuola Universitaria Professionale della Svizzera Italiana, Holonix Srl, Stiftelsen Sintef, Innova Srl, IBM Israel – Science and Technology Ltd, Produtech - Production Technologies Cluster, JPM, Azienda Speciale Innovhub – Stazioni Sperimentali per l’Industria, iCotton SAI, Trudel SA, Centre Suisse d'Electronique et de Microtechnique SA.
