INESC TEC researcher nominated Professor Emeritus of the University of Porto

Pavel Brazdil, collaborator of INESC TEC’s Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support (LIAAD) became one of the new Professor Emeritus of the University of Porto (U.Porto), in a ceremony that took place on 22 March under the Formal Session that celebrated the 108th anniversary of the institution.

The nomination for Professor Emeritus consists in the granting of a title that is aimed at retired professors, who somewhat stood out for their services provided to the University of Porto. The title also allows these figures to continue to collaborate with the University for at least five more years.

Pavel Bernard Brazdil was born in Czech Republic. With a degree in Electrical Engineering, Pavel Bazdil completed his PhD degree in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Edinburgh (Scotland). In 1982, he moved to Portugal to lecture at the University of Porto, where he was also involved in the creation of LIAAD. He was also the Chairman of the Portuguese Association for Artificial Intelligence between 2000 and 2003. He’s one of the four members of that association, being a Fellow of EurAI (European Association for Artificial Intelligence).

The researcher mentioned in this news piece is associated with INESC TEC.
