INESC TEC participates in the dissemination of the European Research and Innovation Network

The conferences PERIN 2019 “+ Ciência, + Europa” started on 20 March aiming at presenting the network “PERIN - Portugal in Europe Research and Innovation Network” to the Portuguese innovation ecosystem. This network aims at reinforcing the participation of Portugal in the next European Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, the “Horizon Europe”, as well as enabling the implementation of the “Innovation Strategies for Portugal in 2018-2030”.

With an agenda, extending up to 12 April, the conferences include workshops subordinated to several priority areas to promote research and development (R&D) activities in Portugal, namely health, artificial intelligence, production and agri-food technologies, with the participation of Manuel Heitor, Minister for Science, Technology and Higher Education, whenever possible.

As part of the Network, INESC TEC organised on 25 March a session entitled "MANUFUTURE Vision 2030", which was attended by José Carlos Caldeira and Luís Carneiro, members of INESC TEC's Board, alongside Joaquim Menezes, Chairman of EFFRA, IBEROMOLDES, and also Eduardo Maldonado, Chairman of ANI.

Also in the context of these conferences, José Carlos Caldeira was present at the workshop which was held on 22 March at INIAV, in Oeiras, entitled “Como duplicar a presença portuguesa nos programas europeus?...do papel do GPPQ à dinamização do PERIN-Portugal in Europe Research and Innovation Network” (in English "How to duplicate the Portuguese presence in the European programs?... From the role of GPPQ to the revitalisation of PERIN-Portugal in Europe Research and Innovation Network").

The PERIN network emerged due to the national priority that the promotion of R&D activities has been assuming in the framework of public policies. The Network intends to monitor the preparation, promotion and the implementation of the research and innovation framework programmes of the European Union; to prepare and to implement the European Union's programmes in the field of higher education and post-secondary training; and to coordinate the preparation of the Portuguese presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2021 in the science, technology and higher education areas.
