INESC Porto gives giant step in the healthcare area
INESC Porto has recently finished working on a project that promises to revolutionise the daily life of elderly citizens in Europe, improving their quality of life. CAALYX - Complete Ambient Assisted Living Experiment is a system that provides the elderly population with higher autonomy, offering remote monitoring systems in a transparent and non-intrusive way, making it possible for them to continue living in their homes. This is a powerful and innovative medical monitoring platform that is now preparing for a commercial implementation. Work on the new eCAALYX project started in June and promises to succeed.

UT Austin | Portugal, U.Porto and INESC Porto organise ISDT 2009
In the context of the UT Austin | Portugal Programme, the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Porto and INESC Porto were responsible for the organisation of the first International School on Digital Transformation – ISDT 2009, which took place between 19 and 24 July ay the Rectory of U.Porto. The initiative welcomed national and international advanced and newly graduated students interested in how digital technologies are changing societies and the world in general. There were over 80 participants from several nationalities in the event (India, USA, United Kingdom, Italy, Finland, Mexico, Brazil, and others).

Presided and organised by Fabien Gouyon, collaborator at the Telecommunications and Multimedia (UTM), the events also had the participation of the Research Center for Science and Technology in Art (CITAR) of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Porto, the School of Music and Performing Arts (ESMAE) of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto, the Casa da Música, and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto.
