USE participates in the organisation of international workshop on Microgrids

In the context of its activity in the European project More MicroGrids, the Power Systems Unit (USE) will participate in the organisation of the international workshop MICROGRIDS – Novel Architectures for Future Power Systems, which will take place in Paris, on 29 January 2010.

It is important to remember that INESC Porto played an extremely important role in the development of the European project More MicroGrids, having managed to demonstrate the technical feasibility of the large-scale integration of microgeneration systems in distribution grids. The More Microgrids contributed to the promotion of a model for the distributed production of electricity by the consumer, company or private customer, which should coexist with the classical model of centralised production of electricity, equally promoting economic and environmental benefits.

At this workshop, the results of several EU projects within the context of Smart Grids will be presented. João Peças Lopes, director of INESC Porto, will be one of the invited speakers.
