IAN organises second edition of U-NET workshop with IEEE GlobeCom

The Internet Architectures and Networking (IAN) area of the Telecommunications and Multimedia Unit (UTM) is currently organising, together with IEEE Global Communications Conference (Globecom), the second edition of the international workshop "U-NET: User-provided Networking". The workshop will take place on 6 December 2010, in Miami, United States of America.

The second edition of the U-NET workshop aims at promoting a debate on opportunities and challenges related with user-provided networks, one of the areas that IAN has been working on. Such debate is highly relevant today since user-provided networking seems to have the potential to provide a paradigm shift in Internet communication models. The organisation of the workshop also includes the Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs (France).

The first edition of U-NET took place on 1 December 2009, in Rome, together with the international conference ACM CoNext 2009. The programme of the first edition included not only the presentation of seven scientific publications, which corresponded to a 37% acceptance rate, but also a discussion panel with members from the academy and from the industry, welcoming about 20 international participants.
