History of the relationship between the company and INESC TEC

The semiconductor industry is in constant evolution, one of the fields with strong growth are the semiconductors used on RF applications. It’s essential for companies that work on this area, to collaborate with universities and investigation institutes for the development of innovative tools and products.

INESC TEC expertise in Radio Frequency and Antennas design is very important for ATEP, both on knowhow update for RF matters but also in the collaboration on the development of miniaturized antennas with ATEP technology.

Statement about the project

The project “Design and simulation of a Bluetooth antenna to embed in Wafer Level Package” a collaborative project between ATEP and INESC TEC, proposed to design, simulate and characterize a 2.4GHz miniaturized antenna using Fan-out technology.

The objective was to develop an antenna model on ANSYS High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) that can be integrated in a System-In-Package, with the potential to reduce the overall system size with antenna-on-package.

With the project “Design and simulation of a Bluetooth antenna to embed in Wafer Level Package” we were able to develop an accurate ANSYS HFSS 3D models for a 2.4GHz antenna, manufactured with ATEP technology.

The collaboration with INESC TEC was very positive. The expertise demonstrated by the researchers, their professionalism and availability lead to excellent results.

ATEP - Amkor Technology Portugal SA. expects to actively collaborate with INESC TEC on Antenna the design, simulation and characterization.
