INESC TEC team wins award of the Portuguese Robotics Society

A team of INESC TEC’s Centre for Robotics and Autonomous Systems (CRAS) won the Innovation and Technology Transfer Award of the Portuguese Robotics Society 2017 with the Project of Drone with rotary wings that inspects and monitors assets of EDP.

In March 2017, the same project had already won the 3rd edition of the EDPartners awards, by taking first place in the categories of Innovation and Provider of the Year. The goal of this Iberian initiative is to award important players in the energy market.

This year, the Innovation and Technology Transfer award was given during ICARSC 2018 – 18th International Conference on Autonomous Robot Systems and Competitions, an initiative under the National Robotics Festival 2018 that took place in Torres Vedras from 25 to 29 April and which was promoted by the Portuguese Robotics Society. This international scientific meeting aims to explore and debate the latest trends in research and technology in the field of Mobile Robotics.

The Innovation and Technology Transfer award, which is awarded annually, is a recognition of the best innovation and technology transfer project, elaborated in robotics and other areas. Its goal is to promote the innovation and technological development based on the scientific knowledge that is gained from the Portuguese educational and research institutions.

The National Robotics Festival promotes Science and Technology among young people, teachers, researchers and the general public, through autonomous robot competitions.

The CRAS team involved in this project is composed by José Miguel Almeida, André Dias, Eduardo Silva, Alfredo Martins, Miguel Moreira, Tiago Santos, André Ferreira, Alexandre Oliveira and Fábio Azevedo.
