INESC TEC signs agreements with Institutions in India

Vladimiro Miranda, INESC TEC’s Member of the Board, visited several institutions in India and signed memorandums of understanding (MoU) which formalize the strategical cooperation that INESC TEC is developing.

An MoU was signed in Goa with the National Institute of Technology Goa (NIT Goa), predicting the cooperation in projects as well as INESC TEC receiving undergraduate, post-graduate and post-doctorate students for training periods. Some meetings were also held at the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) and in The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI Goa), in order to develop cooperation in projects focusing on sensors and communication solutions in technological partnership with NIT Goa, without forgetting other fields of expertise of INESC TEC.

In Chennai, Vladimiro Miranda was welcomed in the National Institute of Oceanic Technologies (NIOT), creating good perspectives of future collaborations given the technological complementarity identified. For two days, Vladimiro was welcomed at IIT Madras, the Indian Institute Technology, a School of Engineering ranked 1st as the top engineering school in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) of the Government of India.

These meetings initiate the preparation process of an MoU between INESC TEC and IIT Madras, focusing on the exchange of students and professors. The Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) is planned to become invited to this process as well. Then, the cooperation in three key areas  was discussed: energy, robotics and business incubation, initiating the process of preparing specific agreements.

Finally, in the Guajarat State, northern India, Vladimiro Miranda signed an MoU with the Charator University of Science and Technology, which is one of the best Private Universities of the State, focusing on scientific collaboration and a strong perspective in sending post-graduate students to the city of Porto.
