INESC TEC showcases IGOR robot at health summit

INESC TEC’S Centre for Robotics and Intelligent Systems (CRIIS) participated in the “Portugal eHealth Summit 2018”, which was promoted by the Shared Services Ministry of Health (SPMS), that was held on 20 and 23 March at Altice Arena, Lisbon. INESC TEC was represented by Cláudia Rocha, researcher from CRIIS.

INESC TEC participated through the Trivalor stand where the project Igor, a pioneer work of Gertal and developed in partnership with INESC TEC, was demonstrated. The system that was presented consists of a mobile platform with a robotic arm, allowing the picking and transportation of trolleys. The main focus of this project is on the transports and logistics operations, and the distribution of food, clothes, among others to hospitals. The system is capable of adapting to different environments, and it doesn’t need further alterations. It works as support in the performance of tasks, often of high physical demands, considering the ergonomics of the operator as well as achieving better solutions of the service.
