INESC TEC presents a FORESTRY 4.0 event
“FORESTRY 4.0: Digitalization in the Forest Value Chain - Facts and Trends” was the title of the presentation made by Alexandra Marques, collaborator of INESC TEC's Centre for Enterprise Systems Engineering (CESE), that took place in the seminar “Forestry 4.0 - Digitalization in Creating Value and Competitive Advantages for Forest Management and Production”.
This event was organised by UNAC- Union for the Mediterranean Forest and took place on 3 April at Cuturgest, in Lisbon. With approximately 150 participants, among them companies, forest owners, University and other agents of the industry, the theme of digital technology and the potential for improvement of forest management and production was presented.
Digital technologies such as cloud computing, mobile devices, IoT (Internet of Things) platforms, remote sensing, smart sensors and big data analysis and algorithms are just a few examples, increasingly in use.
In her presentation, Alexandra Marques addressed themes such as forestry 4.0 or precision forestry, precision forestry action cycle, Project FOCUS - Advances in Forestry Control and Automation Systems in Europe - which she led. She also gave some examples of technologies for forest planning and management and talked about the challenges and trends of the sector.
